Construction CSA Coordinator (Civil/Structural/Architectural)
Location: St. Gabriel, LA
Reports to: Construction Manager
Position Summary
The Construction CSA Coordinator is responsible for leading field execution of civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) work on a major industrial project. This role oversees contractor performance, ensures alignment with engineering and quality standards, and drives HSSE compliance. Acting as the owner’s field representative, the CSA Coordinator is critical to delivering safe, high-quality, and on-schedule construction.
Key Responsibilities
HSSE Leadership
- Champion site HSSE programs and enforce permit-to-work systems (JSA/JHA, LOTO, confined space, hot work, lifting/rigging)
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and support incident/near-miss reporting and closure
Construction Coordination & Execution
- Support construction strategy, site logistics (laydown areas, access, temporary facilities, utilities)
- Oversee CSA contractor activities across multiple contracts (lump sum and T&M)
- Maintain daily field reports covering progress, safety, and quality
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all work meets engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ACI, AISC, AWS)
- Perform field surveillance and inspections to maintain workmanship standards
- Identify and correct deficiencies; stop or prevent non-conforming work
Field Engineering & Documentation
- Coordinate RFIs, field changes, and issue resolution with engineering and contracts teams
- Support QA/QC processes (ITPs, NDT/NDE) and system turnover readiness
- Ensure documentation is complete prior to system walkdowns
Project Controls & Collaboration
- Track progress, quantities, and support earned value reporting
- Review cost estimates for field changes with management
- Interface closely with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders
Qualifications
- 15+ years of industrial construction experience (chemical, petrochemical, or heavy industry)
- 10+ years in a construction leadership role representing the owner on CSA scope
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Strong expertise in civil works (sitework, foundations, concrete) with working knowledge of structural and architectural scopes
- Proven experience managing multiple contractors in complex field environments
- Knowledge of AWP/workface planning, systemization/turnover, and digital field tools
- Demonstrated HSSE leadership (OSHA-30 preferred)
- Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based role in an active industrial construction site
- Requires extended hours/weekends during critical execution phases
- Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs/ladders, and work outdoors dail
“The compensation for this position will typically range from $89,000-$164,500/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short- and long-term incentive compensation. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare coverage, a 401(k)-retirement savings plan, paid company holidays, paid vacation time, paid sick time, parental leave, short- and long-term disability leave, and an employee assistance program.
