Job Overview
Alphagary, an Orbia business, is seeking a Raw Materials Buyer to support our North Carolina manufacturing facility in Pineville. This role is responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials required for production, including polymers, resins, chemicals, colorants, and other assigned products.
The Raw Materials Buyer will work closely with Production, Logistics, and cross functional teams to ensure appropriate inventory levels, cost efficiency, and minimal plant downtime. This position requires In office and Work from Home hybrid arrangement, with regular, close communication with production and logistics staff to ensure timely issue resolution.
Under the direction of the US Purchasing Manager and adhering to established protocols, this position is tasked with the efficient and technically appropriate sourcing and procurement of additives and other designated materials, such as plasticizers and pigments. Ensuring workforce safety is a core responsibility of the position, requiring familiarity with company safety procedures, including QP 090.05 (General Safety Inspection Procedure), as well as hazard communications, emergency response, and fire safety requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage and ensure appropriate quantities of materials, services, and supplies are purchased in accordance with stocking policies and production plans.
- Establish and maintain reliable sources for raw materials and other assigned requirements that meet technical, quality, quantity, and delivery standards at the lowest commercially viable cost.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts effectively in alignment with company and group purchasing strategies and policies.
- Work with the US Purchasing Manager to resolve issues, recommend solutions, and ensure agreed actions are implemented effectively.
- Monitor operational performance, costs, and supplier reliability, and proactively report deviations to the US Purchasing Manager to enable timely corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain effective planning systems to accurately forecast future material requirements while balancing availability and inventory control.
- Identify and implement opportunities to reduce material purchasing costs and improve overall cost effectiveness.
- Recommend and implement improvements to purchasing methods, inventory levels, and processes while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Assist with periodic physical inventory counts as required.

- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external suppliers.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of successful buying experience in a manufacturing environment (experience in PVC or plastics is a plus).
- Solid understanding of supply chain management principles and best practices.
- Proficiency with procurement systems; SAP or SAP S/4HANA experience preferred.
