Dura-Line, an Orbia Business, is actively seeking an experienced and strategic Production Manager to join our team at the Elyria, Ohio site, Garden Street location. This pivotal role involves overseeing plant production under the guidance of the Plant Manager, spearheading employee training and development, and implementing lean manufacturing initiatives and procedures.

 

This position is accountable for all manufacturing activities and personnel to achieve production output, minimizing downtime and driving ongoing improvement, while optimizing the manufacturing process for increased productivity. You will be required to ensure that production schedules are produced on time and to ensure that all operational, administration, safety and business controls are adhered to. 

 

 What You’ll Do:

 

Leadership Excellence: Lead and inspire our production team through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Balance quality, safety, morale, productivity, and cost to achieve positive results across all facets of operations.

Hands-On Engagement: Be a visible presence on the production floor through Gemba walks and department meetings. Demonstrate a commitment to a 24/7 operation, including the ability to work after hours as needed.

 

Operational Oversight: Oversee daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, quality control, and cost-effectiveness. Utilize Microsoft Office and system tools (ODEN, SAP/ERP) to standardize operations and achieve daily goals.

 

Problem Solving: Use your analytical skills to resolve production-related issues, minimize scrap production, address customer and employee concerns, and implement corrective actions.

 

  • Lead all aspects of the 24/7 manufacturing operations and development activities of the plant to achieve short and long-term goals to meet customer and company expectations. ​ 

  • Lead the manufacturing functions in the plant on all shifts to ensure on-time production and shipment of conforming products and materials; Including: planning the production flow, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, handling staff issues, and monitoring production orders and schedules. ​ 

  • Develop and engage with all employees to develop a favorable employee relations environment; work with staff members on their personal growth and development goals to ensure employees feel encouraged and motivated to contribute at their full potential. ​ 

  • Drive world-class processes in the areas of EH&S, developing a solid safety culture within the plant to achieve an accident-free work environment, providing prompt and effective action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions as they become apparent.​ 

  • Develop and implement sustainable manufacturing processes needed to manufacture high-quality products on time, ensuring scrap levels remain below budgeted metrics.​ 

  • Identify opportunities for improvement across the plant in relation to process, equipment, facilities and staffing to drive implementation in a spirit of continuous improvement. ​ 

  • Drive the implementation and execution of robust quality systems to ensure product quality meets and exceeds customer expectations. ​ 

  • Build a team that is dedicated and committed to excellence, with open communication, where all team members have a voice. ​ 

  • Execute on technical skills, problem solving skills, risk management, run an operation – SS, RTO (required to operate – manpower needed on a daily basis), lean manufacturing. ​ 

  • KPI: Reduce scrap production, standardize operations on all shifts, improve First Pass Yield, implement 5S and lean processes, foster quality, lean, and safety culture, improve accountability, formalize training and qualification process, train all team members, develop succession plan within the shift 

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

Leadership: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, set high standards, improve accountability, and actively promote a culture of positive change. Be a coach and mentor to new hires and existing team members.

 

Continuous Improvement: Bring a lean manufacturing mindset and experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S practices across all shifts.

 

  • 8 years or more hands-on experience in complex, 24/7 plant operations of preferably process-manufacturer products. 

  • 3 years or more in supervisory/management positions, with a proven ability to lead and motivate people. 

  • Demonstrated experience with lean production, process improvement tools, Kaizen, LMS, etc. 

  • Safety mentality/oriented, able to foster a safety culture, basic OSHA knowledge.​ 

  • Computer tech savvy (word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, Teams), ERP systems knowledge, SAP experience a plus. 

  • Clear understanding of effective manufacturing practices in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and delivery. 

  • Physical requirements for the position such as mobility, vision, strength, etc. (applicable in line with local laws): 

  • Prolonged periods on the plant floor or warehouse area working in a manufacturing environment that may require walking, standing, etc including operating a forklift.  

  • Will spend time in an office environment, on a computer or in meetings.  

  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds  

  • Must be able to work in variable weather conditions and in an environment with many noises  

  • Comfortable wearing appropriate PPE while in production and warehouse areas.

The compensation for this position will typically range from $98,000 - $181,500 annually.  The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  

 

The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
