Product Engineer is a hybrid position designed to strengthen technical, regulatory, and product development capabilities at the Altamira site.

The role provides regulatory affairs support as a direct backup to the Regulatory Affairs Researcher, progressively absorbing technical and commercial requests, while simultaneously performing Product Engineer responsibilities, supporting product development, optimization, and technical service activities.

Additionally, the position participates in research and innovation projects according to business needs, supporting technical growth, knowledge generation, and strategic development through continuous learning and cross‑functional collaboration.

 

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Briefly describe the most important aspects of the job; no more than 10)

  • Support the analysis, interpretation, and application of local and international regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, REACH, NOM, TSCA, GHS, CLP) applicable to products, raw materials, and processes.
  • Assist in the evaluation of regulatory compliance of substances, formulations, and finished products, including materials intended for regulated applications such as food contact.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain regulatory documentation, including compliance statements, technical letters, declarations, and internal regulatory dossiers.
  • Manage and follow up on internal regulatory requests from R&D, Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams, under the guidance of the Regulatory Affairs Researcher.
  • Progressively absorb and respond to customer and commercial regulatory inquiries, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and alignment with internal regulatory strategy.
  • Support product development and optimization activities, including formulation evaluation, performance testing, and technical qualification of products.
  • Prepare and update technical documentation such as Technical Data Sheets (TDS), test reports, and technical support materials.
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, collaborating with R&D, Quality, Operations, and Commercial teams to resolve product or application issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, quality system, and digitalization initiatives, contributing to process standardization, documentation, and data accuracy.
  • Contribute to research, innovation, and new product development projects, supporting experimental work, pilot studies, and knowledge generation according to business priorities.

 

3. COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB (i.e. The occupant manages vendors from different geographical regions with various financial and legal conditions and the level and impact of decisions the occupant needs to make, manages revenue, CAPEX, Sales, etc.)

 

Scope: This role combines regulatory, technical support, and product development responsibilities, requiring the ability to:

  • Rapidly learn and adapt to evolving regulatory frameworks and technical requirements.

7. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (To perform satisfactorily in this job what type of knowledge and experience is required?)

  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Experience: Preferred 0–3 years in R&D, technical support, regulatory affairs, or similar technical roles.
  • Languages: English (advanced, C1technical reading and writing).

Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Statistical analysis and data interpretation: Ability to analyze experimental and production data, identify trends, evaluate variability, and support technical decision‑making based on data.
  • Experimental design (DOE): Understanding of basic design of experiments principles for laboratory trials, product evaluations, and process optimization.
  • Product and formulation knowledge: Fundamental understanding of chemical formulations, materials, and product performance evaluation.
  • Regulatory awareness: Ability to learn, understand, and apply regulatory frameworks related to chemical products, materials, and regulated applications.
  • Technical documentation: Capability to prepare clear, accurate, and well‑structured technical and regulatory documents (e.g., TDS, compliance statements, reports).
