We are currently looking for a Global Category Manager Polyolefins to join us in Europe (the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium), Wavin Nederland B.V., an Orbia business. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on.
Main purpose
The Global Category Manager Polyolefins has responsibility for the global category sourcing plan for Polyolefins and specialty polymers (Polyethylene, Polypropylene, PPSU, PB1, etc.) and for delivering the benefits associated with the sub-category / commodity for which they are accountable. They will foster supplier relationships associated with the sub-category with a long-term focus and will work closely with the stakeholders in Finance, Operations and Supply Chain to deliver benefits across the specific sub-category/commodity/regions. They work together with a Supply Planning Coordinator to make sure Operating Companies’ Polyolefins demands are fulfilled. They make sure all materials are processed through Wavin Trading Company in Europe. For any other region, they will arrange optimal negotiations in terms and conditions for the transactional process. They maintain close relationships with T&I (Technology & Innovation) to manage the innovation process with suppliers and with the Business Units to align on long term development needs. They control the risks management process for the (sub) category while also fostering relations with peers from other Orbia businesses consuming polymers.
Dimension of the role
- Manage purchasing volume of appr. USD 320 million, bonus/rebate management €1 million annually and approximately over 100 suppliers and 400 SKU’s
- Manage security of supply by short-term actions (issue resolution) and a longer-term approach (continuous risk management assessments)
- To translate the S&OP outcome or any other demand generation system into feasible planning and supply of raw materials for all Operating Companies
- Participate in the global Raw Material Category teams across businesses to look for Group synergies and to enable global sourcing opportunities
- Responsible for Procurement metrics: savings, contract compliance, supplier base management, payment term optimization
- Act as liaison for external institutes (CMA, ICIS, Platts, Argus, etc.) to exchange actual market information of pricing and availability of materials
- Act as an information source for commercial (sales) colleagues within Wavin in order to guide them in price strategies to customers
Main responsibilities
- Manage the Polyolefins category globally to make the supply chain work efficiently and to make sure all KPI’s are met
- Contribute to the global category sourcing plan, focusing on the benefits achievement and plans related to the specific sub-category and commodity
- Oversee and deliver annual value improvements in the relevant sub-category / commodity
- Oversee and deliver selection strategies, processes, and management of key suppliers
- Measure and track performance of spend sub-category and define budgetary impact
- Develop and manage relationships with key groups of business stakeholders
- Manage the network of Territory representatives for activities or projects related to the specific sub-category
- Continuous drive for optimizing working capital, costs, prices and service
- Coordinate and align methods with Supply Chain Team to continuously monitor and enhance sub-contract partners and 3rd party vendors
- Support Sales with relevant short term raw material price information to facilitate commercial decision making. Support Sales with long-term market expectations to help them make the right contracting decisions.
Our requirements
- A University degree in relevant business discipline with 10+ years of experience in relevant field
- In depth expertise on petrochemical based plastics, particularly PE and PP procurement, with a global perspective and understanding of business and finance
- Business acumen for pipe and fittings in a high volume, international, dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and argue persuasively for a course of action
- Skilled influencer with strong problem solving analytical and project-management expertise
- Should demonstrate proven decision-making skills in a dynamic and evolving environment coupled with great negotiation skills
- Should have experience of managing stakeholders in complex international environment, including working with virtual teams
- Should have effective and pro-active communication across all mediums to a wide audience with a strong command over English language (verbal and written)
- Action oriented, go getter with expertise in crisis management.
- Focussed on facts & figures, “tough on the content, soft on the human relation”
- The role has high cross-functional orientation, therefore the candidate must present and evidence a level of awareness and understanding of Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance and Sales / Product management
