Job Title: Maintenance Technician/Millwright
Schedule: Night shift, 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday, 11pm to 7am. Overtime is available based on operational need. Candidate will train on dayshift for a few months prior to moving to night shift.
Pay: Journeyman Rate is $47.50/hr plus $2.50 night shift premium.
We are looking for a night shift Journeyman Maintenance Technician/Millwright to support our evening and early morning operations. This position will be working with the night shift Maintenance Electrician, and will report to the Maintenance Manager as well as supporting the Production Supervisor on shift with any maintenance related matters for our 24-hour manufacturing operations.
SAFETY is priority!!!! Safety Steel Toed Shoes are required (must be CSA approved). Shoe Reimbursement voucher provided upon start date.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain all resin systems and vacuum loaders, and clean filters and make repairs as required
- Maintain all support equipment, tape feeders, spiral units, extruders, vacuum tanks, pullers, reelers, air systems and water systems
- Assist all departments with breakdowns
- Assist and/or perform all tooling changes for the extrusion department as required by order change
- Perform daily maintenance sheets on all plant equipment as per work sheet.
- Assist the general maintenance crew with equipment rebuild, plant shutdowns, and new equipment installations
- Record all data as required (i.e. charts, necessary process adjustments based on data findings, etc.)
- Performs routine machine maintenance
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area
- Follow and promote all safety requirements for this position in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations
- Ability to adapt to new ideas, technology, processes, and product changes
- Perform all other duties as directed by management
Requirements for this Role:
- Licensed/Journeyman Millwright, or Valid Interprovincial Red Seal
- A Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Plastic extrusion experience, and experience in a Manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance
- Ability to assist production on tooling changes on the dies
- Ability to use most hand and power tools required for this position: wrenches, torches, volt meters, drill press, and band saw
- Knowledge of 120/240/480v single and three phase systems
- Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical issues
- Good knowledge of Provincial and local safety codes
- Candidates with forklift experience will be given preference
- Use of aerial lift and working at heights is required
- Reading, writing, and mathematical competency testing required
- Computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Mechanically inclined
Working Environment:
- Manufacturing floor environment
- Work includes exposure to hot equipment with moving components and spending 8 hours a shift on your feet
- Ability to lift 50 lbs with or without assistance.
- Moving from one area to another may require stepping over and/or bending under objects
- Ability to climb ladders, silos, railcars, roofs at varying heights
- Working is primarily ground level, but working at heights on occasion
