Shipping Technician (SLC)

On-site – Salt Lake City, Utah
The Shipping Technician handles shipping requirements for the plant including coordinating drivers, deliveries and pickups. You will work closely with the shipping attendants and production scheduler to understand production timesframes to coordinate external shipping, effectively manage expectations and OTD. You will also perform inventory control and provide weekly, monthly and yearly cycle count for plant and inventory.
PAY: This position pays $23.28/hour and up, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-330pm

This is what you’ll do:

Coordinate outgoing shipments, process and print bills of lading and paperwork

Receive goods in SAP, ensuring proper documentation (stamped, labeled) and storage of the product, and submit to appropriate shipping personnel

Examine outgoing shipments for any product defects

Assemble, package products/materials for shipment if required – wrap, add protection per standard work instructions.

Insert items into containers using spacers, fillers, and protective padding

Adhere (staple/glue/tape) identifying information and shipping and instructions onto boxes or containers.

Stamp or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto boxes or containers
-
Label identifying information and shipping instructions onto boxes, reels or containers and ensure proper documentation for shipments

Maintain a neat and orderly work area, and assist to maintain an orderly and clean shipping yard (5S +2)

This is what it takes: Educational Requirements

At least 3 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing/ warehouse/ shipping/ distribution environment

Basic computers skills with some familiarity with MRP/ERP systems

Fluent in English, Bi-Lingual a plus!
Occupational and/or Physical Requirements:
-
Prolonged periods on the plant floor or warehouse area working in a manufacturing environment that may require walking, standing, etc including operating a forklift.
- May spend time in an office environment, on a computer or in meetings
-
Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds
- Must be able to work in variable weather conditions, indoors and outdoors, and in an environment with many noises
- Commitment to wearing the appropriate PPE while in production and warehouse areas
- Ability to move from one area to another by stepping over and/or bending under objects, pushing and pulling objects
**For Tuition reimbursement you must be a full-time employee and complete one continuous year of employment. You will receive $5,000 a year for undergrad and $7,500 a year for grad.**
***Sign-On Bonus paid out over 180 days: $500 at 90 days and $1,000 at 180 days; must be in good standing with attendance and performance.
