Reel Return Operator

On-Site-Salt Lake City, Utah

 

Rate of Pay: $22.50/Hour and up, Depending on Experience  

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7am-330pm

 

SIGN-ON BONUS OFFERED!:  $500 after 90 days, $1,000 after 180 days totaling $1,500.00

As a Reel Return Operator you are responsible for coordinating assembled and disassembled reels that are returned to the plant as part of the reel return program. You will support and perform other, regular Offline functions. 

 

This is what you'll do:

 

  • Organize and maintain reel raw material locations including return drop zones, overflow, and Kanban 

  • Inspect returned flanges and staves and ensure quality and accountability standards are followed, manage associated paperwork 

  • Unload and stage assembled and disassembled reel returns 

  • Sort, label, band, and flip flanges with a forklift and/or up-ender machine  

  • Restack or separate flanges into usable bundles 

  • Identify, sort, and label staves 

  • Stage flanges behind reel building and reload staves in reel building 

  • Restock Kanban area with processed flanges and staves 

  • Band and move scrap flanges to storage location and submit associated paperwork 

  • Maintain a safe working area and uphold 5S standards  

  • Perform all functions of an Offline Operator including reel building, grinding, pelletizing, parallels/coils, etc. 

  • Additional duties as required

 

This is what it takes:

 

  • At least 1 year of excellent lift truck (forklift) experience in a manufacturing/ warehouse/shipping/distribution environment with various types of equipment and diverse terrain and environments
  • May spend time in an office environment, on a computer and in meetings
  • Familiarity with material handling systems and processes including shipping and receiving, first in/first out, etc.

  • Ability to read and write English, fluently, with an ability to perform simple math, and take measurements. Bi-lingual a Plus!

  • Work in an environment that may be exposed to external elements (hot and cold temperatures) and occasional loud noises.  
  • Understanding of paperwork procedures and documentation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance
  • Ability to squat, bend, stoop and remain stationary 
  • Ability to spend up to 8 hours a shift on foot around hot machinery (This is a non-climate controlled facility)
  • Commitment to wearing the proper PPE at all times
  • Prior forklift experience a plus
     
 

For Tuition reimbursement you must be a full-time employee and complete one continuous year of employment. You will receive $5,000 a year for undergrad and $7,500 a year for grad*

*Employee must be have satisfactory attendance and satisfactory work performance. Paid out over 90 days, $300 after 30 days, $500 after 60 days, $700 after 90 days.

**Amount earned is based on Plant performance in four Key Performance Indicators (KPI'S) safety, savings, productivity and teamwork. Employee must be active full-time status during the quarter and at time of payout, with good attendance and no disciplinary action.
