Project Engineer

We’re looking to hire a Project Engineer for our St. Gabriel, LA site. The Project Engineer supports execution of assigned project(s) consistent with project objectives and Orbia project management guidelines. Primary roles is ensuring the engineering and procurement services contractor(s) perform detailed engineering and procurement services in accordance with contractual requirements and the project’s specifications and standards. The Project Engineer also ensures deliverables from the contractor enhance construction efficiency and follows the project through construction, commissioning and start-up.
The role may require frequent travel to contractors’ offices, fabricator sites, and the project site.

About the Role
- Monitor performance engineering and procurement services across the broad areas of cost estimating and progress measurement, quality, schedule, and construction planning. The Project Engineer is the focal point for facilitating and appraising contractor engineering and procurement performance and ensuring that deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner to successfully complete the contract package to which they are assigned, consistent with the Project Objectives and technical requirements
- Coordinates inter-disciplinary activities and interfaces between the project team and engineering and procurement contractors to meet project targets. Solves problems, propose solutions, resolve complexities throughout the life span of the engineering effort.
- Coordinate of and participation in PFD, P&ID, HAZOP, 3D Model etc., review meetings and technical proceedings. Writes meeting summaries, agendas, and work plans assigned.
- Coordinate all project and contractor engineering and design resources, including manpower planning, inter-disciplinary squad checks, 3D model review and follow-up actions, etc.
- Coordinate and participating in development of equipment specifications, bids, bid tabs, vendor selection, vendor communication, and document review as required.
- Monitor, controlling, and reporting of engineering progress against cost/schedule/quality baselines.
- Verify that work proceeds in compliance with project standards and specifications as well as industry codes, standards and accepted practices.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in development of an Engineering Management Plan.
- Setting MOC compliance strategy for the project, then ensuring engineering package issuance and schedule is consistent with that strategy.
- Assuming some portion Engineering Manager's role as required.
- Coordinate with existing plant personnel to facilitate efficient tie-ins to the existing plant
- Communicate status of engineering progress versus targets
- Supports resolution of RFI and other questions from engineering and construction
- Participates in commissioning and start-up planning and execution
- Support issuance, and adherence to project specifications.
- Help develop/finalize vendor and equipment Lists
- Review process control schemes
- Assist in development of Spare Parts List and Requisitions
- Participate in Factory Checkout of Equipment, Control Systems, Etc.
- Participate in Field Reviews/Audits and PSSRs and lessons learned evaluation
- Transfer of All Project Related Documents at end of project. Review and coordinate As Built Drawings
What You Bring
- B.S. degree in mechanical or chemical engineering from accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years’ capital project experience working at a chemical manufacturing facility and/or chemical or petrochemical EPC engineering firms. Experience with modular construction and installation is desired.
- Experienced with stage gated project process including all phases of FEL, detailed design, and project execution. Project engineering experience on an individual project of $10Mio+ from start to finish is desired.
- Familiar with plant equipment and piping engineering codes and standards including ASME, TEMA, and API.

“The compensation for this position will typically range from $108,000 -$200,000/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
The compensation package may also include short- and long-term incentive compensation. We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes healthcare coverage, a 401(k)-retirement savings plan, paid company holidays, paid vacation time, paid sick time, parental leave, short- and long-term disability leave, and an employee assistance program.
