         MAIN PURPOSE

 

Responsible for the development and execution of category sourcing strategies to support Koura’s  growth agenda and developing portfolio of products across Koura’s locations in UK, US, Japan and Mexico and any other regions as required.

Provide effective alignment and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders within area of responsibility.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

         SCOPE OF THE JOB

 

A procurement management role with specific focus on raw material sourcing for Koura’s developing portfolio in addition to other portfolio’s as required.

Travel may be required across the operating regions (UK, US, Japan, Europe, Mexico) and other supplier locations, dependant on procurement activities

 

 

          COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB

 

  • Significant category procurement expertise in the chemical industry, with key experience in raw materials procurement globally
  • Detailed knowledge of supply chains and the impact of procurement on supply chains
  • Able to collaborate closely with Business Intelligence teams to identify sources of supply globally and develop appropriate procurement and contracting strategies, aligned to Kouras developing portfolio
  • Able to put in place effective and robust contracts to ensure supply certainty and continuity
  • Attention to stakeholder needs, value-addition and attention to detail are key complexities to manage.
  • Able to work with flexibly and with agility across the time zones to ensure full stakeholder engagement and collaboration – there may be a need to work early mornings and late evenings to deliver effectively.
  • The occupant manages vendors from different geographical regions with various financial and legal conditions.
  • Full compliance with the company’s code of ethics is a key requirement.

 

         MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Work closely and proactively with the Senior Strategic Procurement Manager to develop the procurement strategy for critical goods and services to support Koura’s challenging growth portfolio  
  2. Work collaboratively with Procurement  colleagues, to ensure alignment in ways of working and sharing best practice.
  3. Implement the agreed procurement strategies, ensuring your day to day activities are fully developed and  enable you to maximise your contribution to the business.
  4. Be responsible for the strategic activities associated with assigned categories, and prepare for handover to business as usual teams
  5. Establish strong internal stakeholder relationships across the various departments and locations, including but not limited to regional Service Delivery Teams, Operations, Legal, Finance, Business Intelligence, Growth & Technology and Commercial funtions, working collaboratively for the benefit of Koura
  6. Ensure highest standards of service are delivered to stakeholders across the various regions and timezones. Work flexibly and with agility to ensure all stakeholder groups are supported
  7. Manage  procurement and contract activities across the regions, ensuring full understanding of customer needs and translating them into best value for the business (safety, compliance, cost, quality and security).
  8. Put in place appropriate and robust contracts for business requirements, minimsing the risk to Koura and  aligning fully and appropriately with both Legal Business Partner and Stakeholder
  9. Be a key business partner for growth activities, translating that into future ‘business as usual procurement.’
  10. Build, sustain and improve strong networks with suppliers, constantly strive to to identify opportunities for improvement.
  11. Work in accordance with all local and global processes and procedures, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities in terms of effectiveness and efficiency ensuring full alignement with procurement teams across the regions. 
  12. Support and deliver any additional requirements as decided by Line Manager

 

EDUCATION

Minimum: Degree/HND or equivalent in Business or similar

Desirable: Formal Procurement qualifications

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

 

Significant experience of sourcing of high value/high volume/critical goods and services globally in the Chemical Industry, with specific knowledge and experience of raw material sourcing/contracting globally

In depth knowledge of contract law, with specific experise of contracting with suppliers across Asia,US and ROW

Good understanding and working knowledge of various forms of contracting

Good understanding of Incoterms

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence at all levels

Strong IT Skills: SAP, Microsoft Office

 

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • More than 10 years experience in a similar role in the Chemical Sector
  • Experience of supporting the development of supply chains and how procurement can influence/support
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Experience of working in a multi-site business with large turnover and global procurement and associated contracts is essential
  • Strong stakeholder skills, able to build strong relationships across different cultures and to a senior level
  • Able to work independently in a changing environment
  • Commercial experience, including procurement systems, processes and procedures.
  • A thorough working knowledge of Supplier and Contractor Management
