The main purpose of the Process Development Engineer is in conjunction with colleagues in the US, UK and Mexico, this role will encompass conception and execution of process development trials, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance planning, engineering calculations, process simulations, cost estimations, and partner/vendor identification and management. This is a hands-on role requiring initiative and flexibility to support regular commercial operations and advance multiple new projects simultaneously. The candidate is expected to combine a strong interest and understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals with a lightweight approach to advancing ideas from development through production.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

Develop processes and advance projects related to the development of energy materials for batteries and related upstream materials, from proof of concept/feasibility demonstration through to commercial build and start up. 

 

 

Special Skills:

 

  • Hands on experience in a pilot plant environment. Familiarity with developing equipment specifications, factory acceptance testing and process development trials
  • Exceptional ability to troubleshoot various unit operations being developed with sound scientific reasoning. Ability to think on their feet, and make ‘game-day’ decisions during trials
  • Ability to conceive, assemble and test process concepts
  • Proficiency with process simulation and statistical analysis software to guide process development is a plus
  • Familiarity with process controls and automation

 

 

Education / Experience:

 

  • Bachelors/Masters in Chemical Engineering. Min 4-6 years post-academic experience
