Product Designer

The role

Reporting to the Product Design Manager, the Product Designer will work at our Doncaster site to support the execution of Wavin UK products and departmental plans. The role will involve supporting the development of existing products as well as creating new products from a design brief.  

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Working from a design brief or existing drawings, being able to support the design, development and engineering of existing and new Wavin products
  • Generate visual material to communicate concepts internally
  • Assist in the early-stage product design concepts such as sketches/models/component drawings
  • Coordinate and assist with the development of product prototypes
  • Assist with and input generally to material and process/tool design & selection
  • To generate and update product drawings
  • Issue of product drawings to procedure when requested
  • Provide administrative support to the department
  • Support Wavin Worksafe Initiatives within the department
  • Carry out any other reasonable ad hoc duties as and when required (e.g. general technical queries and problem solving activities to the wider technical and production teams etc)

 

 

Profile

  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and processes with focus on injection moulding
  • Knowledge of rapid prototyping technologies
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software – Office Suite, Powerpoint, Word, Excel and Project
  • FMCG or equivalent, experience in design, development, manufacturing
  • Specialist CAD skills (Solidworks + add-ins – Moldflow, Photoworks etc)
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks
  • Project management
  • Experience of CNC programming/operation would be beneficial
