Production Manager

MAIN PURPOSE

This position is accountable for all manufacturing activities and personnel to achieve production output, minimizing downtime and driving ongoing improvement, while optimizing the manufacturing process for increased productivity. Will be required to ensure that production schedules are produced on time and to ensure that all operational, administration, safety and business controls are adhered to.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

· Leads all aspects of the manufacturing operations and development activities of the plant to achieve short and long-term goals to meet customer and company expectations.

· Leads the manufacturing functions in the plant on all shifts to ensure on-time production and shipment of conforming products and materials; Including: planning the production flow, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, handling staff issues, and monitoring production orders and schedules.

· Develops and engages with all employees to develop a favorable employee relations environment; work with staff members on their personal growth and development goals to ensure employees feel encouraged and motivated to contribute at their full potential.

· Drives world-class processes in the areas of EH&S, developing a solid safety culture within the plant to achieve an accident-free work environment, providing prompt and effective action to eliminate unsafe acts or conditions as they become apparent.

· Develops and implements sustainable manufacturing processes needed to manufacture high-quality products on time, ensuring scrap levels remain below budgeted metrics.

· Identifies opportunities, using data and/or process knowledge, for improvement across the plant in relation to process, equipment, facilities and staffing to drive implementation in a spirit of continuous improvement.

· Actively participate in process improvement and/or Capital expenditure, investment, planning and execution.

· Drives the implementation and execution of robust quality systems to ensure product quality meets and exceeds customer expectations.

· Build a team that is dedicated and committed to excellence, with open communication, where all team members have a voice.

· Execute on technical skills, problem solving skills, risk management, run an operation – SS, RTO (required to operate – manpower needed on a daily basis), lean manufacturing.

· KPI: Reduce scrap production, standardize operations on all shifts, improve First Pass Yield, implement 5S and lean processes, foster quality, lean, and safety culture, improve accountability, formalize training and qualification process, train all team members, develop succession plan within the shift

 

COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB 

· Maintains technical expertise on plant products, processes and operations.

· Supports and implements Corporate initiatives and directives through indirect influence with the leadership team.

 

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS

Plant departments Internal Accomplishing operational duties and responsibilities.

Corporate functions Internal Alignment with corporate expectations and physical inventory.

Third party vendors External Drives on time delivery and quality assurance from vendors.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

o BA/BS degree (Engineering Degree preferred) or equivalent work experience, including experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or an HS diploma with an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Ø Knowledge/Experience:

o 5 years or more hands-on experience in complex, 24/5 – 24/7 plant operations of preferably process-manufacturer products.

o Three or more years in supervisory/management positions, with a proven ability to lead and motivate people.

o Demonstrated experience with lean production, process improvement tools, Kaizen, LMS, etc.

o Safety mentality/oriented, able to foster a safety culture, basic OSHA knowledge.

o Computer tech savvy (word, Excel, PPT, Outlook, Teams), ERP systems knowledge, SAP experience a plus.

o Clear understanding of effective manufacturing practices in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and delivery.

 

Ø Physical requirements :

o Prolonged periods on the plant floor or warehouse area working in a manufacturing environment that may require walking, standing, etc including operating a forklift.

o Will spend time in an office environment, on a computer or in meetings.

o Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds

o Must be able to work in variable weather conditions and in an environment with many noises

o Comfortable wearing appropriate PPE while in production and warehouse areas.

 

“The compensation for this position is typically $84,000-$137,000/yr. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to jobrelated knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
