Production Lead

  1. MAIN PURPOSE 

This position is responsible for leading production of electrolyte solutions at the production plant in Madison, WI, including weighing/dispensing materials to the batch, blending the material using 50L – 200L mixing equipment, and filling kegs for distribution to customers. 

The position will also focus on logistical requirements and will help coordinate week-to-week batch scheduling to meet sales and shipment goals.  The role will be required to support or lead purchasing, warehousing, and shipping for the Madison site.

 

This role is responsible for coordinating production activities at the site, including:

  • Batch execution
  • Packaging / shipping readiness for all produced materials
  • Receiving incoming materials and coordinating material flow through the plant
  • Weekly production schedule coordination

Raw material coordination – monitoring material inventories supporting weekly production

 

  1. COMPLEXITY OF THE JOB (ie The occupant manages vendors from different geographical regions with various financial and legal conditions, level and impact of descisions the occpant needs to make)
  • This position will be responsible for execution of commercial blending operations and is critical to the successful manufacture and release of fine chemical products with exacting quality standards.
  • The manufacturing process is executed in an isolation chamber with closed transfers required to maintain integrity of the product
  • This position’s tasks will be executed in a hazardous chemical environment where attention to detail is imperative for worker safety

  1. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute electrolyte blending operations in the 50L – 200L mixing equipment.  Including dispensing of raw materials out of an isolator glovebox, operation of 50L – 200L mixing equipment, monitoring automated material additions via flowmeter and executing manual material addtions through the top of the vessel. 
  • Clean electrolyte blending equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure that material and people resources are available to support production orders in the weekly production schedule
  • Assist in packaging and shipping of completed electrolyte blends.
  • Execute electrolyte blending operations in an isolator glove box using bench scale techniques.
  • Create week-to-week schedule based on Sales and Operations Planning forecasts to meet shipping targets.
  • Schedule material transfers from a satellite warehouse facility to the production plant to maintain appropriate stock on hand to support production activities. 
  • Receive material transfers and operate drum lift to move 200L kegs into flammable storage cabinets between areas of the production facility.

Identify and communicate equipment issues with Engineering and Maintenance personnel to schedule equipment maintenance or troubleshooting to maximize equipment utilization and meet batch production targets.

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 
  • Knowledge of operating chemical process equipment
  • Experience executing small-scale chemical processes to generate high quality product
  • Experience coordinating and prioritizing operational activities to meet operations scheduling targets

Knowledge of safety practices for working in a chemical process plant

 

  1. EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma

Process Technology Degree a plus

 

  1. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 
  • 5 years chemical manufacturing plant process experience
  • Experience working in hazardous environment requiring a full-face regulator or other breathing apparatus.

Experience working in a pilot plant is a plus.
