Polymer Solutions (Alphagary), an Orbia business, is looking for a Business Engineering Director to support our business globally.
Job Summary/Purpose
The Business Engineering Director (BED) will drive safe and efficient implementation of the capital portfolio, while ensuring functional linkage with the business from the earliest conception of a need to the commissioning and handover of a new asset. Additionally, the Business Engineering Director will be accountable for the creation of an effective Asset Integrity/Reliability function within the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, efficient, timely, and cost-effective execution of the full business Capital Portfolio in a way that delivers advantaged assets
- Serve as the most knowledgeable and articulate spokespersons of business drivers and execution capabilities for the Capital Portfolio
- Drive PMO best practices through Sr. Project Managers and plant Capital Managers; measure project performance and compliance with engineering standards
- Ensure that innovative project delivery approaches (offshore engineering, modular construction, etc.) are applied to ensure competitive advantage through capital efficiency and the lowest total cost of ownership for all new assets
- Integrate process, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines into our project teams in a way that ensures innovative scopes are encouraged
- Embed the twin cultures of Process Safety and Capital Efficiency in our delivery of capital projects
- Document design and installation standards for various PS-Alphagary product families
- Establish an effective Asset Integrity/Reliability function within PS-Alphagary based on international best practices
- Work with the Global Operations Director to establish a culture of reliability-centered maintenance and capital planning

Experience & Knowledge Required
- Bachelor’s degree, plus PMI Certification or equivalent required; Master of Business Administration or equivalent preferred
- 15+ years of industrial experience with extensive experience managing capital projects >$10M (owner side)
- Experience in a leadership role within a chemical manufacturing facility
- Excellent English required, with a working capability in Spanish preferred
