We are currently looking for an Engineering Lead to join our team, at our Forest Works siteReporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Lead role will be responsible for providing leadership the the engineering team and delivering to support site production, OEE and company objectives.

 

The responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Identifying and prioritising pro-active and reactive maintenance tasks on a daily basis.
  • Develop and influence individual team members, ensuring that they are clearly aware of both their personal and their team objectives and that personal development targets are set.
  • Monitor and manage individual and team performances.
  • Provide sound engineering reasoning to communicate satisfactorily with all departments both written and verbally.
  • Carry out root cause analysis and investigations into faults and incidents to generate engineering reports and identify and implement subsequent solutions to prevent re occurrence.
  • Control the engineering direct and indirect operational budget. Creation of engineering business cases to justify capital investments.
  • Effectively project manage using application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills and experience to achieve project objectives.
  • Carry out all activities in a safe manner and drive compliance & improvement of health and safety by maintaining discipline, by safety concern & near miss reporting, by actively participating in safety campaigns and scheduled site safety activities, by managing site injuries and outcome, and pro-actively managing potential lost time incidents.
  • Drive functional and cross functional shift handover effectiveness.
  • Ensure relevant reports are developed & maintained as required on a shift, daily or weekly basis and develop, promote & report via the SQCDP process.
  • Co-ordinate the workload and maintain planned work including PPM and improvement work.
  • Work strategically with the view of always having a robust succession plan within the team.
  • Investigate and deliver OEE improvements and support CI approach.
  • Deliver engineering briefs.
  • Contribute and adhere to the requirements of the Site’s QMS and EMS to maintain its ISO9001 and ISO14001 accreditations, respectively.

 

The right candidate will have:

  • HNC qualification in a Engineering discipline.
  • IOSH qualification.
  • Time served Engineer with a strong technical knowledge in heavy manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of modern Engineering techniques, Lean Manufacturing and other CI techniques.
  • Experience with conflict and case management.
  • Sound understanding of legislative requirements in engineering.
  • Proven experience in an engineering leadership role within a manufacturing environment (ideally heavy manufacturing, building products, or ceramics).
  • Experience in managing Maintenance Management Systems (ideally Agility).
  • Exposure to the SQCPD or equivalent models of communication to deliver KPI’s.
  • Ability to positively influence and build good working relationships with people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Must be able to plan, organise and communicate effectively to satisfactorily achieve personal and team activities.
  • Must be able to effectively address performance and technical issues.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in written formats.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable work ethic.
