The Lead Planner for the Project Control Central Team is responsible for the planning and scheduling discipline during FEED and EPC phases. In addition, he will be integrating EPC schedules and all aspects of Progress Measurement, monitoring, verification, and reporting.  This includes day-to-day activities for the development, maintaining, monitoring, controlling, and integrating of the overall FEED and EPC schedules including putting in place the progress measurement system, monitoring, verification, and reporting.

 

Reporting & Interface
Reports to Senior Manager Project Controls.
Direct reports: None.

 

      Internal
Frequent interaction with Project Managers, department Managers for FEED Phase, EPC-1, EPC-2, Support Team Risk Management. Regular contact with functional support Services, Legal, Supply, and Finance departments.

     External
Regular contact with FEED, EPC-1, EPC-2, Contractors, their sub-contractors and vendors during the execution of the project.

 

     Job Context
Understands the key project drivers, defines roles and responsibilities, develops communication protocols, identifies, develops, and implements project procedures planning and scheduling.  Coordinates and facilitates all planning sessions and development of plans for Project teams.  
The prime objective of planning is to improve project performance by anticipating issues, avoiding negative situations, and reducing the frequency of poor outcomes.  Embedded robust planning management practices have been shown to contribute to the consistent delivery of successful projects.
Key Accountabilities
1.    Provides overall project schedule, progress measurement, and change management expertise to the Titan Project.
2.    Reviews Contractor’s project control procedures (home office and field control procedures) to ensure that Company’s requirements are met.
3.    Reviews project changes to evaluate detail schedule impact; responsible for quantifying and incorporating the effect and impact of approved changes in the overall schedule for stewardship purposes.
4.    Advises Project Controls Senior Manager and Project Leadership Team of any potential schedule issues and when necessary, provides guidance on, corrective action and measures to mitigate any adverse trends.
5.    Reviews and checks Contractor’s progress reports for accuracy of progress measurement.  Verifies, reviews and endorses claimed progress reported by Contractors.
6.    Reviews and endorses schedule and progress Baselines and forecasts prepared by Contractor.
7.    Analyze schedule and progress trends reported by Contractors.
8.    Supports PLT with ongoing project schedule and progress analysis, reporting and forecasting activities. Periodically updates Level 1 schedule to incorporate schedule updates from various Contractors.
9.    Develops and maintains overall project schedules and ensuring that these products reflect the approved project design/execution scope. Periodically monitors interfaces that are common to multiple EPC packages and liaise with project teams to mitigate any adverse trends.
10.    Responds to ad hoc requests from PLT related to Scheduling and Reporting, including development of progress metrics, and/or key performance indicators.
11.    Ensure PLT and Contractors are working towards the correct priorities and schedules have clear Critical Path & Sub Critical Paths to allow for timely sequenced start-up of the facilities as defined in the Titan Control Schedule.  
12.    Reviews productivity frequently to ensure Contractor can achieve the plan and advises when slippages are seen in Productivity Factor (PF) or Schedule Performance Index (SPI). 
13.    Monitors and appraises the performance of Contractors compared to agreed control plans in the areas of progress and schedule control.
14.    Works effectively within established policies and procedures and participates in the further development of these to meet changing needs.
15.    Works in a dynamic team environment that has high expectations for flawless project execution in safety, quality, cost and schedule performance which requires the incumbent to demonstrate accuracy, initiative and the ability to multi-task as essential skills.
16.    Demonstrates willingness to tackle a variety of tasks in response to evolving business needs.
17.    Works in a highly visible project environment with large capital expenditures and significant schedule execution pressures

 

     Qualifications
1.    Bachelor’s degree Business in related subject or equivalent experience.
2.    Minimum of 12 years’ experience in a major project environment within the oil and gas or chemicals industry, with exposure in planning, cost and risk management including project controls, cost and schedule development.
3.    Experience of working with Chemical Companies or International Oil Companies will be an advantage.
4.    Excellent written and verbal English skills.
5.    Strong planning, organisational and prioritising skills.
6.    Strong negotiating and influencing skills.
7.    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
8.    Good computer literacy skills (Primavera P6, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
9.    Hands on working experience in Primavera P6 Version 18 and above.
10.    Good knowledge of using Primavera Schedule Risk Analysis software for conducting Schedule Risk Analysis.

 

 

“The compensation for this position will typically range from $111,000 - 181,000/yr.  The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.
 
The compensation package may also include short and long-term incentive compensation.
