The role
We are currently looking to recruit a Machinist, to carry out a range of planned maintenance activities in line with the maintenance management system, whilst always maintaining H&S standards and adhering to legislation. Reporting to the Senior Team Leader, the Machinist will undertaken the manufacturing and reconditioning of engineering parts alongside being able to operate a variety of manual machines.


Responsibilities
•    Carryout day to day bench fitting activities using a variety of manual machines. Carrying out proactive work including planned preventitive maintenance (PPM) and refurbishment of worn parts on rotary valves and the manufacture of extrusion die and bells
•    Ability to read engineering drawings
•    Involvement in multi site projects
•    Maintain central workshop standard and practices
•    Operate in line with all Wavin H&S Standards. To implement and adhere to safe working practices in accordance with legislation and the Wavin WorkSafe programme
•    Support the engineering department in reactive maintenance machining support
•    Mentor Apprentices within the engineering department          

                                                       
Profile
•    Experience working in a manufacturing environment
•    Experienced bench fitter or machinist with experience undertaking mechanical machining of parts and cleaning and polishing of equipment
•    Time served machinist with a knowledge of manufacturing operations/practices
•    Good working knowledge of health & safety procedures
•    Ability to read technical drawings
•    Ability to operate central workshop equipment including manual lathe, manual miller, vertilicle borer and surface grinders
•    Welding experience would be desirable
•    Communication and interpersonal skills, confident communicating with personnel at all levels. 
•    Effective organisational skills
•    Time management skills with the added need for flexibility as and when required to meet business needs
•    A team player with a strong work ethic
•    Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to work unsupervised
•    Can demonstrate attention to detail, with the ability to problem solve.
•    Involvement in continuous improvement projects / activities, with the ability to introduce new working methods and ideas
•    A willingness to drive and actively endorse and promote excellent standards of work and H&S compliance
