People Business Partner - Fixed Term Contract

We are currently searching for a People Business Partner to join our People team at the Edlington Lane site in Doncaster. The role will provide maternity leave cover and is expected to last from May 2026 to July 2027.
The main purpose of the role is to operate as an effective business partner to the Operations and Supply Chain teams on site whilst remaining connected with the wider UK and Ireland People team. The role covers the full HR lifecycle.
Some of the main duties and responsibilities of the role are to:
- Operate as a trusted and knowledgeable business partner on matters such as employment law, training and development, recruitment and selection, employee relations, organisational change and Company Policies and Procedures
- Effectively manage the site’s operational People priorities on a day-to-day basis
- Have full involvement in the development of People and Training strategies
- Support the wider People team in the development, co-ordination and implementation of Company Policies and Procedures ensuring legal compliance, good practice and ‘best fit’ to achieve business strategy
- Initiate and influence change management programmes
- Influence, coach and mentor line managers in all areas of people leadership
- Drive and deliver People and improvement projects ensuring outcomes are aligned to the business strategy and legislation
- Successfully partner management teams at Operation Reviews, Pay Reviews, Consultative Council and Trade Union Meetings
- Work closely with the Occupational Health function in line with overall business and HR strategy
- Operate within the People budget ensuring costs are well managed
- Create and deliver Talent Management/Recruitment/Development plans with senior teams in accordance with Succession Planning strategies
- Complete, maintain and deliver People metrics and reports on a monthly basis
- Ensure that all People record keeping, documentation and related HRIS systems comply with legislation, are accurate and well maintained
The profile:
We are keen to hear from applicants who can demonstrate;
- HR Business partner experience gained in an international manufacturing business or similar
- Significant experience working within a unionised environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR ERP software (ideally SAP)
- Ability to manage several complex priorities concurrently and to a high standard
- Successful design and delivery of local training programmes
The role occasionally requires a flexible approach to working hours and environment to allow delivery of specific business objectives. The role may involve occasional travel by car to other Wavin and Orbia sites and therefore possession of a full UK driving licence is preferred. Overnight stays to meet the demands of the role may also be necessary from time to time.
This is currently a full-time role undertaken between Monday to Friday inclusive, 7.5 hours per day and across 37.5 hours per week. We welcome conversations during the recruitment process about working hours, patterns of work and/or hybrid arrangements.
