Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Team Leader will be responsible for supervising the warehouse and yard distribution function at Doncaster within clearly defined performance metrics, effectively managing day-to-day operational activity whilst continuously driving improvements in safety, service level and operational efficiency.

The role

• To actively promote safe working practices and a safe working environment, nurturing a culture of safety, engagement and participation
• Review and respond to safety concerns, near misses and work-related injuries, completing relevant behavioural and safety audits
• Deploy warehouse team and equipment to maximise distribution performance
• Monitor and manage picking productivity to ensure outperformance from the team
• Monitor and control Goods In, including factory stock and returns on and off site
• Participate and lead in the development and implementation of Doncaster Improvement Plans
• Work closely with customer services and transport to ensure specific customer requirements are met and urgent orders can be satisfied, wherever possible
• Train, develop, support and where appropriate, initiate and conduct performance management processes
• Manage people related processes, including but not limited to, absence management, performance management, investigations and disciplinary procedures
• Improve communication and enhance staff culture
• Liaise with Stock Co-Ordinator for adherence to stock count schedules

The profile

The successful candidate will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent with grade C / 4 or above in Maths and English and possess IT literacy skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Operational leadership experience in a time sensitive warehousing operation is desirable in addition to a leadership and management qualification or willingness to work towards.

The postholder will hold excellent communication skills across all mediums with strong interpersonal and decision-making skills. A strong commercial awareness is also essential with a structured and organised approach to work with an ability to remain pragmatic and flexible under pressure.

A sound knowledge of warehouse management systems, including SAP is also desirable.
