POSITION TITLE: Construction Manager

 

LOCATION: St. Gabriel, LA

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Our Flour & Energy Materials business group is seeking to hire a Construction Manager to support our new plant in St. Garbiel, LA. As the Construction Manager, you will manage, control, and coordinate all construction resources and construction contractors working within Contract Work Packages to meet project targets. We are looking for you to drive cost-effective and thorough construction and constructability outcomes during the design phase. You will organize and staff all construction management positions and ensure each is productive within their role. You will manage the construction team in accordance with company construction management procedures and practices to achieve project safety, cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • HSSE Leadership: Champion Orbia and site HSSE programs; enforce permit-to-work, JSA/JHA, LOTO, confined space, hot work, and lifting/rigging controls. Lead daily toolbox talks and weekly safety meetings; drive observation, near-miss reporting, and corrective action closure.
  • Construction Strategy & Readiness: Establish the path of construction, area/system sequencing, and site logistics (laydowns, access, haul roads, temporary facilities, power, water). Drive constructability reviews and implement recommendations in design.
  • Ensure Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) program is in place to effectively convert engineering deliverables and materials into executable installation work packages.
  • Direct and manage contractors and site teams across civil/structural, undergrounds, foundations, steel, equipment setting, mechanical/piping, E&I, architectural/buildings, firewater, and drainage. Coordinate heavy lifts, modular receipts/setting (if applicable), hydro/pneumatic testing, reinstatement, insulation, and painting/coatings. Resolve RFIs, field non-conformances (NCRs), and site technical queries in collaboration with engineering.
  • Supervise discipline-specific construction coordinators.
  • Quality Assurance & Turnover: Ensure adherence to ITPs, WPS/PQR, NDE plans, and code compliance; steward punchlist and quality records. Drive systemization and completion: define subsystems, MC criteria, test packs, walkdowns, and dossier turnover to Operations.
  • Own the level 3/4 construction schedule, 3-week look-aheads. Ensure field productivity. Ensure quantity-based and earned value progress reporting.
  • Materials & Subcontracts: steward receiving, preservation, and issuance to workfronts; minimize shortages and rework.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Issue daily/weekly site reports covering HSSE, progress, productivity, and change management. Maintain redlines/as-built markups.

 

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum 15 years of industrial project construction management in chemical, petrochemical, or other heavy industries, including at least 10 years as construction manager/lead for the owner’s team with construction management responsibility for multi-discipline EPC field execution.
  • Bachelor’s, Associates, or equivalent experience in construction discipline (Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering). Deep construction experience in one of the following construction disciplines, with general experience in the other two: sitework/concrete/foundations, mechanical/piping, electrical/instrumentation. Also desired is Heavy Haul, rigging, and modular construction implementation.
  • Demonstrated HSSE leadership implementing site programs; OSHA-30 (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Proficiency in AWP/workface planning, systemization/MC/turnover, quantity tracking and earned value, and advanced scheduling tools (Primavera P6/MS Project); skilled in 3D model reviews and digital field management tools.
  • Deep working knowledge of relevant codes/standards (e.g., ASME, API, ACI/AISC/AWS, NFPA 70/70E, AMPP/NACE) and owner/contractor quality systems (ITPs, WPS/PQR, NDE).
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to drive constructability during design, with experience in modular construction/setting preferred.
  • Strong leadership in multi-contractor environments, effective negotiation, change/claims management, dispute resolution, and clear communication and disciplined reporting skills.
  • Language(s) and level of proficiency: Must be fluent in English
  • Physical requirements for the position: Work primarily in the field under varied site conditions; willingness to support extended hours/weekends during critical path activities; onsite presence in St. Gabriel, LA. Must be able to spend a substantial part of each day at the outdoor construction site, including walking on uneven ground, climbing stairs, and ladders.

"The compensation for this position will typically range from $108,000 to $200,000 per year. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.

The compensation package may also include short- and long-term incentive compensation.
