Lead Line Operator

 

Job Overview: 

The Lead Line Operator is responsible for assisting the Production Supervisor in monitoring the production processes, equipment, and personnel

to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and quality.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor extruder operating parameters and multiple pieces of equipment to ensure quality production and minimize unplanned stops. 
  • Monitor the production processes, equipment, and personnel to ensure maximum safety, efficiency, and quality.     
  • Communicate standards for process time, settings, and specifications, providing supervision, direction, and hands-on involvement to staff. 
  • Train and mentor line operators on equipment usage and procedures, emphasizing safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Cover shift operations in supervisor absence. 
  • Read and understand production SOPs, recording necessary data and adjustments based on findings. 
  • Assist in communicating standards for process time, settings, and other specifications for optimum output and quality conditions. 
  • Assist in performing ongoing checks of equipment, materials, and product quality.  
  • Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and prioritize safety in all operations. 

 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Line Operator in plastic extrusion manufacturing, with experience in machine set-up, change-overs and operations. 
  • Strong mechanical skills, with experience in machine trouble-shooting and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with standards for process times, parameter settings, machine specifications and data reporting.
  • Supervisory or team lead experience preferred. 
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and mathematics, with working knowledge and experience in Excel and Word (SAP desirable). 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to lead and achieve results through others. 
  • Familiarity with systems and continuous improvement orientation preferred.
  • Proven history of good attendance.

The compensation for this position starts at $24.00/hour, with $1.50/hour Shift Premium. Pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors,

including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  The compensation package may also include short-term

incentive compensation (SSIP).
