Dura-Line R&D Intern in Clinton, TN

The Position: 

Hours:  30-40 hours a week onsite  

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm  

Semester: Summer (May-August). Open to extending based on performance & availability 

PPE provided: Steel toed/composite safety shoes, safety glasses, safety gloves, lab coat. We will also provide computer to complete meetings & necessary assignment.  

Must have reliable transportation to our Clinton, TN site 

 

Job Duties:  

As the R&D Intern will support the R&D team in Clinton, TN in the company-wide circular economy project. You will use the standard laboratory analytical tools to qualify an array of recycled High Density Polyethylene resins including rework (post-consumer and post-industrial) from various suppliers.  

 

You will develop skills on important analytical tools such as DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter), TGA (Thermogravimetric Analyzer), COF (Coefficient of Friction) as well as learn about tensile and Polymer processes like extrusion and injection molding.  

  

Key Skills for Success for this R&D internship:  

  • Actively pursuing degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Packaging Engineer, or Chemistry 

  • GPA of 3.0 or greater 

  • Must be at least a Junior 

  • Training or prior experience in Basic Statistics, Computer programming (Python) and MS Excel & Office Suite is preferred  

  • Soft Skills: Teamwork, Reliability, Attention to Detail, Eagerness to Learn, Effective Communication, Organization, Self-Motivated, Passion, and Customer Orientation 

  • Most Importantly you need a willingness to learn how to collaborate and communicate effectively in order to cross functionally develop processes and a willingness to learn how to continuously improve current processes 

 

There will be a presentation to be made at the end of the semester.
