Extrusion Technician

The role

Reporting to the Senior Extrusion Technician, the Extrusion Technician will work at our Chippenham site working Monday to Friday 07:00 to 15:00. As the Extrusion Technician you will be responsible for line changing and servicing of the extrusion tools, and to provide technical assistance to the extrusion department with the Chippenham site, however support at our other sites may occasionally be required. You will be optimising the extrusion process, covering tooling, machines, materials and measurement equipment for the manufacturing of pipes and gutter to all the required quality standards. The Extrusion Technician will be monitoring and analysing the lines to identify Continuous Improvement potential.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • To ensure site compliance with Health and Safety policy and procedures.To ensure that all activities undertaken conform to the appropriate standards and regulations.
  • To ensure timely extrusion line changes so that machines produce at standard output and meet the production plan requirements.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Chippenham improvement plans.
  • To aid production in optimising the extrusion process, such as line speed and weight.
  • To ensure all tooling is correctly serviced and maintained.
  • To complete autonomous maintenance tasks as per schedules. 
  • To provide technical assistance in improvement plans, capital project and new product development.
  • To work with other operational departments.
  • Assisting with and progressing Training with the teams

 

 

Profile

  • Educated to basic secondary level standard
  • Practical experience of Extrusion manufacturing process - Tool setting, PVC, Terpolymers or Olefin processing is essential
  • Previous experience of short/medium size batch production
  • Able to demonstrate a pro-active approach to all aspects of Health & Safety
  • Able to take direction as well as possessing the ability to plan and organise your own workloads
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Possess a flexible and adaptable work ethic with a willingness to embrace change and improve processes
