1. MAIN PURPOSE (Briefly state the job's overall objective)

The main purpose of the job is to ensure the stability, performance, and availability of IT infrastructure and services by maintaining, optimizing, and managing the SolarWinds monitoring environment. This includes proactive issue detection, minimizing downtime, and providing actionable insights to improve system health and performance.

 

 

 

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

SolarWinds Administration & Optimization

  • Maintain, configure, and optimize SolarWinds modules (e.g., NPM, SAM, NTA, SCM, or Orion Platform). Ensure proper data collection, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly added as part of a project
  • Ensure our partner regularly updates and patches SolarWinds for security and performance improvements.

 

Alerting & Incident Detection

  • Fine-tune alerts to detect anomalies while minimizing false positives.
  • Automate remediation workflows where possible.
  • Assist in incident investigations using SolarWinds logs and insights.

 

Performance & Capacity Monitoring

  • Use SolarWinds to track infrastructure performance and detect bottlenecks.
  • Provide reports and insights for capacity planning.

 

Collaboration & Training

  • Work with IT, DevOps, and security teams to enhance visibility and observability.
  • Train teams on SolarWinds best practices and usage.
  • Document monitoring setups and procedures.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: The role requires working closely with IT infrastructure, network, security, and DevOps teams to ensure a well-integrated monitoring strategy.

Multi-Platform & Multi-Technology: SolarWinds must be configured to monitor diverse environments, including on-premises data centers (Europe & U.S.) and Azure cloud workloads.

Global Scope: Responsible for monitoring infrastructure across multiple geographical locations, ensuring consistent performance and uptime for distributed teams and services.

Compliance & Security Considerations: Must align monitoring solutions with industry regulations, internal security policies, and best practices for data protection.

Direct Influence:

Establishes monitoring best practices and standards for IT teams.

Designs and implements SolarWinds dashboards, alerts, and automation that impact daily operations.

Provides training and support for teams using SolarWinds.

Indirect Influence

Helps leadership and stakeholders make data-driven decisions based on monitoring insights.

Guides infrastructure and application teams by recommending improvements based on system performance trends.

Supports incident response

7. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (To perform satisfactorily in this job what type of knowledge and experience is required?)

  • Academic Level: Associate degree required; a Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.Equivalent work experience may be accepted in place of a formal degree.
  • Language(s) and level of proficiency: English (fluent) and Spanish
  • Knowledge/Experience:
    Technical Knowledge
    • In-depth knowledge of network infrastructure technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and network monitoring tools.
    • Proficiency in network protocols, such as TCP/IP
    • Familiarity with cloud networking and hybrid cloud environments, specifically Azure
    • Experience with monitoring of network equipment.
    • Experience with monitoring of hosting environments equipment.

Management & communication Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, finance, senior management).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner to senior management and other stakeholders.

 

 

Relevant Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing global network operations.
  • Extensive experience working with and managing relationships with managed service partners.
  • SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) – Validates expertise in SolarWinds administration and optimization.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate – Useful for cloud monitoring in Azure environments.
  • CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA – Beneficial for network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • ITIL Foundation Certification – Helps understand IT service management processes.
  • Familiarity with documentation, training, and support processes necessary for a smooth handover.
